|We are looking forward to seeing all of you again in Bradford in March 2011. Come and see Cinerama and 70mm in all its splendour. We will include new 4k DCP prints of classic widescreen and large format films, as well as a mix of new and old 70mm prints, from the vaults and collectors alike, in its 70mm curved screen splendour. |
Join Sir David and Col. Nicholson, the Prescotts and Dersu to see the whole wide world in breathtaking letterbox format. Feel the Russian cold, Jarre's classic tunes, Varykino's real estate and a hot day on the job for an English map maker in Arabia, while not minding of course. Dance craze to the ska beats of the 1980s and push the button on the curve with Max. Get a black and white Wise scare-o-rama, while you enjoy a Goodwin orchestrated German rocket science blow-up and a DDR large format interpretation of a Spanish painter in ORVO color.
ONLY AT THE PICTUREVILLE!!
We will again include the usual mix of lectures, screen talks, format demonstrations, Sovscope 70, Circlorama, Panavision, Technirama, CinemaScope, 3-strip Cinerama, Super Panavision 70, blowups and maybe IMAX 3D, on screens in all popular size and shapes.
Travel to Bradford to get the first person experience at the Pictureville cinema in Bradford, England from 25 - 28 March, 2011.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Pictureville Cinema, Bradford

The Pictureville cinema, the jewel of British cinema in Bradford, West Yorkshire in the heart of Great Britain, is one of three cinemas equipped to show Cinerama in the original 3-strip format. The huge screen is wide and deeply curved. It’s the perfect framework to present 70mm with 6-track sound in Super Technirama 70, Todd-AO and Ultra Panavision 70.

Why is 70mm so special?
|Vintage 70mm film. Image by Thomas Hauerslev|
"in 70mm" is unlike anything you have ever seen - a High Definition movie experience with extremely sharp images and crystal clear 6 track stereo.
"in 70mm" is very realistic, almost three dimensional and can make everything you have ever seen pale into insignificance. But don't take our word for it - come and see for your self.
It's a great lineup, with some rarities and old friends!
Best, Sheldon Hall

A bat whispered that Operation Crossbow which took place in the last show started a Dance Craze which starred Buster Bloodvessel
and Goya painted Dersu on the Bridge over the River Kwai (which also took place in the last show) in ORWO colour.
Dersu, having gone through a lean time was so thin and exhausted he had to be treated by Dr Zhivago.
He prescribed a digital cinema package in 4k or 4096 by 1716 pixels, and that's HTWWW!
Cheers, Mark Lyndon
