“Man Has Made His Match, Now It's His Problem”

On 25 June 1982, “Blade Runner” was released in the United States and Canada. The film, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford, opened in nearly 1,300 cinemas, eleven of which showed it in the 70mm Six-Track Dolby Stereo presentation format. If you’ve ever been curious as to where the coveted large-format prints played, keep reading.

(Interestingly, in the book “Future Noir: The Making of Blade Runner”, the producer of the film incorrectly recalls that no 70mm prints circulated.)
