Help the Hollywood Theatre Bring 70mm Film Back to
Portland! |

This
is very exciting news here in Portland, Oregon. And we think this is a very
achievable goal for our area. As you probably are aware, this cinema was
Portland’s 3 Strip and 70mm Cinerama venue back in the day. The foundation
that is running it is trying to modernize the theatre while at the same time
keeping much of its glorious past in tack as well (new exterior sign done in
a retro style, for example). As this comes to past I hope to be the Jimmy
Olson cub reporter on the spot to provide updates to In70mm.com readers.

Here
at the Hollywood Theatre, we strive to bring amazing, one-of-a-kind film
experiences to Portland. You can meet visiting artists like composer Alan
Howarth or Oscar-nominated director James Ivory. You can interact with film
via B-Movie Bingo, Hecklevision, and more. You can see incredible films in
formats from digital to 16mm to 35mm. And now, we want you to enjoy the
ultimate film experience: 70mm.
That's right: the nonprofit Hollywood Theatre is bringing 70mm back to
Portland in 2015. In doing so, we'll become the only theatre in Oregon and
one of the few in the nation capable of screening this unique format. But we
need your help to get there! We need to raise about $6,500 to purchase the
last few pieces of equipment. As a Hollywood Theatre supporter, please
consider contributing to our 70mm fund and helping us achieve this goal.
