Telecine transfer of John Lasher's Kinopanorama footage of "Grand Ridge Road" [working title] shot with the PSO-1960 camera at Digital Pictures in Melbourne. The telecine HD 1080p footage will go to Greg Kimble for the conversion to 2.55:1 [or thereabouts] for release on DVD and Blu-ray later on this year. Mr. Kimble is also transferring other Kinopanorama footage shot previously by John Lasher. Some shots from "Bounty" as well as the B/W Moscow Cinema Chronicle Nbr 2 newsreel from 1958.

JANUARY 2010

"Can Can" work completed some time ago. Unfortunately, due to the fading issues in the original camera negative (both horizontal fading at the cuts, as well as east-west fading from poor storage), Fox/FotoKem were not able to make a new 70mm print from the negative.

Instead, a new 65mm IP from the negative as a preservation element has been made, and then Fotokem performed a huge amount of HD restoration. No new print, sadly, but it will make a passable Blu-ray. Hopefully, as technology becomes better, faster, and cheaper, Fox/FotoKem will be able to improve on it in the years to come.

"Windjammer" 35mm composite print was returned to the Swedish archive after scanning in Hollywood, and the roadshow prologue was also returned to owner during first week of January 2010. Work continues on making a Blu-ray and DVD.

Roberto Schaefer ASC wanted to shoot using Hawk Anamorphics but was not allowed to by the visual fx people they said post production would take to long. Its been shot Super 35 using Arricams and Zeiss Ultra Prime lenses, apart from a short sequence where they used 8 Dalsa Origin 4K cameras.
