The following is a reference / historical listing of the 70-millimeter
presentations of “Never Say Never Again” in North America. These were the best
cinemas in which to experience the film.
“Never Say Never Again” was among thirteen confirmed first-run films released in
1983 with 70mm prints for selected engagements. The Warner Bros. release —
directed by Irvin Kershner and starring Sean Connery — opened October 7th.
The 70mm prints of “Never Say Never Again” featured full-frame imagery blown up
from anamorphic 35mm and Six-Track Dolby Stereo (“A” encoded “baby boom”
Seventy-millimeter trailers for “Deal of the Century” and “Sudden Impact”
circulated during the release of “Never Say Never Again” and which the
distributor recommended be screened with the presentation. (Additional 70mm
trailers from other distributors circulated during this period as well. Which
trailers, if any, were seen during the “Never Say Never Again” presentations
varied by venue.)
Pre-release screenings included the film’s world premiere on October 6th at
Mann’s National in Los Angeles.
The duration of the engagements (measured in weeks) has for some entries been
included in parenthesis following the cinema name.
