The following is a reference / historical listing of the 70-millimeter re-release presentations of “Tommy” in North America.

The 70mm prints of “Tommy” featured “tilt-and-scan” full-frame imagery and re-mixed six-track stereophonic sound.

The 1975 Columbia release — directed by Ken Russell and starring Roger Daltrey, Ann-Margret, Oliver Reed, Eric Clapton, Tina Turner, Elton John, Arthur Brown and Jack Nicholson — was originally produced in 1.85:1 and available in a variety of audio formats including Quintaphonic, Quadraphonic, Tri-Phonic, 4-track stereo, Dolby Stereo, Dolby-encoded monaural, and standard monaural.

A 70mm trailer for “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” circulated during the re-release of “Tommy” and which the distributor recommended be screened with the presentation. (Additional 70mm trailers from other studios circulated during this period as well. Which trailers, if any, were seen during the presentations of “Tommy” varied by venue and screening.)
