Pristine 3-strip 70MM Print of "Vigilant Switzerland" / "Wehrhafte Schweiz" (1964) was recently found in Archives of the Swiss Army.

Left and right Panel were additional footage of politicians and graphics with Sound (left channel German and right channel French track) explaining the political Situation at this time (1964) which was, at least in the opinion of the narrators, close to a very serious atomic war threat.

The Center Panel was a different version of the movie "Fortress of Peace" with an altered beginning and ending.

This is the only existing 3-panel-70mm print of this movie. A total of 5 prints were made for the LAUSANNE FAIR in 1964. Projected with 3 70mm projectors on a 450 square meters screen.

About the Swiss Army Pavillion During EXPO 64

Pictures from articles about the Swiss National Exhibition of 1964 in Lausanne from Schweizerische Polierzeitung, the Swiss Construction Foremen Magazine. In issue 4/64 they especially covered the construction of the pavillion of the Swiss Army in detail (pavillion "Wehrhafte Schweiz", most pics and floor plan above) - what could be a better representation of the simultaneity of modernism and cold war than a concrete hedgehog? Expo 64 was the third Swiss National Exhibition in the 20th century (after 1914 and 39), the last Expo so far took place in 2002.
