 The 2016 TCM Classic Film festival is a really big Hollywood event held over
four days between April 28 and May 1 in the heart of Hollywood. Film fans
from around the world come here to see classic films in many of the most
iconic venues and introduced by the people involved in their making. The Cinerama contribution was the Mike Todd, Jr.'s "Smell-O-Vision" Cinerama Dome screening of “Scent of Mystery” (1960) It is also known as “Holiday in Spain” when presented without the scents. It screened on May 1 at 10:00AM to a full house. It was hosted by LEONARD MALTIN - Film Critic and Historian with a special guest appearance by BEVERLY BENTLEY who played the decoy Sally Kennedy in the film. There were live actors at this event to help make it a more fully involved experience for the audience. Large fans (scent projectors) were placed around the periphery of the theatre, in the upper and lower level seating areas, to disperse certain atmospheric smells, like the bull run. But most smells were spread by the audience members with small scent atomizers and folding fans. The scents were designed by SASKIA WILSON-BROWN of The Institute for Art and Olfaction. are large, silent running, enclosed fans provided by Boston Light & Sound
and used to disperse scents over a wide area. |

 The Dome’s new Christie 6P dual-head laser projection system
with Dolby 3D color separation technology. One of these two serious looking
digital projectors is being used for the Scent of Mystery screening. The DCP
files have been rectified so that the projected image fits the Dome’s curved
screen perfectly. |

 A Todd-AO camera privately owned by cinematographer Richard Edlund was set up in the lobby during the rehearsal and again during the
screening. It was threaded with fresh 65mm film and proved to be a real
