"Windjammer" Remastered Soundtrack
Followed by
Cinerama Holiday and Cinerama Seven Wonders Of The World

The 70mm Newsletter
Written by: - Date: 11.07.2013
"Windjammer", a 1958 film that recorded a 32,400 km voyage of the Norwegian sail ship "Christian Radich" from Oslo to the Americas and the Caribbean was the only film to be shot in the widescreen Cinemiracle process, which came with a seven-track stereophonic soundtrack composed by Morton Gould.

The film soundtrack was never issued and only a studio assembled LP was made available. Sepia Records has remastered the soundtrack from the original tapes in stereo and together with the studio LP are releasing the complete "Windjammer" music on 2CDs.

It is planned to be a 2-disc CD with all the film score, the original LP released in 1958 and a lot of extras including a recording of Jack Shaindlin with the orchestra refining the overture for the film, plus much more. The new music is fantastic and I think it is going to surprise a lot of sound track collectors along with "Windjammer" enthusiasts. It took a lot of hard work by Audio Mechanics in LA to get the some what warped 1/4" tapes to properly play back but they did it! The tapes I believe were originally recorded for a sound track album but then when Columbia Records committed to a LP version that was it.

Another Sepia release is "Cinerama Holiday" The Recently Discovered Oyster Bay Sessions and a digitally enhanced stereo version of the original LP. And finally, a true stereo re master of the "Seven Wonders Of The World" LP that was issued in Europe. The album will be the original version as released, an expanded version with more great music Yes, the album had Lowell's narration but he really adds to the LP and I think it will be enjoyed by any cinema music collector. And finally, a re mastered bonus recording of the Admiral "7 Wonders" Hi-Fi demo disc and more.
