Herbert Born, Schauburg Cinerama Liebe Todd-AO Festival Guests, Seit März 2020 befinden wir uns in der Pandemie. Seitdem waren die Kinos und damit auch die Schauburg fast ein Jahr lang geschlossen gewesen. Gegenwärtig dürfen wir wieder öffnen, allerdings unter starken, sich immer wieder ändernden, Auflagen und Einschränkungen. Es herrscht Maskenpflicht beim Kinobesuch und nur Geimpfte, Genesene oder getestete Personen dürfen die Vorstellungen besuchen. Beim jährlichen 70mm Todd-AO-Festival, das seit 2005 im Spätsommer in der Schauburg stattfindet, geht es nicht nur darum, 70mm-Filme zu zeigen. Ein wesentlicher Teil des Wochenendes sind die sozialen Aspekte und der Austausch der zum Teil von weit her angereisten internationalen Festivalgäste. Der Freitagabend mit "Hoepfner & Freunde", Frühstücksbuffets am Morgen, Tee, Kaffee und Kuchen am Nachmittag und das gemeinsame Abendessen im Schauburg-Biergarten. Alles das sind wesentliche Aktivitäten des Todd-AO Festivals, an die wir alle gewöhnt sind und die wir alle zu schätzen wissen. Wenn wir die Frühstücksbuffets, den Biergarten und den Raum für soziale Interaktion, Filmvorträge und Diskussionen verlieren, werden wir das Todd-AO-Festival in der Schauburg nicht mehr so genießen können, wie wir das wollen und gewöhnt sind. Die Pandemie hat nicht nur den Kinobetrieb empfindlich gestört, sondern auch die Möglichkeiten der Unterstützung und finanziellen Förderung durch unsere langjährigen Festivalpartner stark eingeschränkt, sodass das nötige Budget, um die Veranstaltung im gewohnten Rahmen stattfinden zu lassen, dieses Jahr leider nicht gegeben ist. Auch wird der zu erwartende Besuch unserer internationalen Gäste durch sich ständig ändernde und eingeschränkte Ein- und Ausreiseregelungen erschwert. Dieser Komplex verschiedener Aspekte hat uns nun veranlasst, auch das für dieses Jahr Oktober geplante 70mm Todd-AO Filmfestival in der Schauburg abzusagen und auf das Jahr 2022 zu verschieben. Es würde dieses Jahr nicht das Festival sein, das wir veranstalten möchten und das unsere Gäste erwarten. Press Release – 15. August 2021 Since March 2020, we are in the pandemic. Since then, the cinemas and thus also the Schauburg had been closed for almost a year. Currently, we are allowed to reopen, but under strong, ever-changing, conditions and restrictions. Masks are compulsory when visiting the cinema and only vaccinated, recovered or tested persons are allowed to attend the screenings. The annual 70mm Todd AO Festival, held at the Schauburg in late summer since 2005, is not just about showing 70mm films. An essential part of the weekend is the social aspects and the exchange of ideas among the international festival guests, some of whom have traveled from far and wide. The Friday evening with "Hoepfner & Freunde", breakfast buffets in the morning, tea, coffee and cake in the afternoon and the joint dinner in the Schauburg beer garden. All of these are essential Todd-AO Festival activities that we are all used to and appreciate. If we lose the breakfast buffets, the beer garden, and the space for social interaction, film screenings, and discussions, we will no longer be able to enjoy the Todd-AO Festival at the Schauburg the way we want to and are used to. Not only has the pandemic severely disrupted cinema operations, but it has also severely limited the ability of our long-time festival partners to provide support and funding, so the budget necessary to keep the event running as usual is unfortunately not available this year. Also, the expected visit of our international guests is made more difficult by constantly changing and restricted entry and exit regulations. This complex of various aspects has now caused us to also cancel the 70mm Todd-AO Film Festival planned for this year of October at the Schauburg and postpone it until 2022. It would not be the festival this year that we would like to host and that our guests expect. |
