Herbert Born, Schauburg Cinerama Liebe Todd-AO Festival Guests, Wie Sie wahrscheinlich nur allzu gut wissen, wirkt sich die aktuelle COVID 19-Pandemie in vielerlei Hinsicht auf unser Leben aus. Arbeit von zu Hause aus, häufigeres Händewaschen, Anstandsregeln, Einschränkungen bei öffentlichen Veranstaltungen und Versammlungen usw. sind nur einige der neuen Lebensweisen. Einige Kinos haben mit den neuen Vorschriften wiedereröffnet; begrenzte Kapazität, Entfernungsregeln, freibleibende Sitze und viele andere Dinge, um die Sicherheit der Zuschauer zu gewährleisten. Die Schauburg wurde ebenfalls wiedereröffnet, allerdings mit begrenzter Kapazität und nur an 4 Tagen in der Woche geöffnet. Die maximale Kapazität beträgt zwischen 10 und 75 Gästen, je nach Größe des Kinosaals, um genügend sicheren Abstand zwischen den Gästen zu schaffen. Beim jährlichen 70mm Todd-AO-Festival, das seit 2005 jedes Jahr im Spätsommer in der Schauburg stattfindet, geht es nicht nur darum, 70mm-Filme zu zeigen. Ein wesentlicher Teil des Wochenendes sind die sozialen Aspekte und der Austausch der Festivalgäste. Der Freitagabend mit "Hoepfner & Freunde", Frühstücksbuffets am Morgen, Tee, Kaffee und Kuchen am Nachmittag und das gemeinsame Abendessen im Schauburg-Biergarten. Alles das sind wesentliche Aktivitäten des Todd-AO Festivals, an die wir alle gewöhnt sind und die wir alle zu schätzen wissen. Wenn wir die Frühstücksbuffets, den Biergarten und den Raum für soziale Interaktion, Filmvorträge und Diskussionen verlieren, werden wir das Todd-AO-Festival in der Schauburg nicht mehr so genießen können wie wir das wollen und gewöhnt sind. Unsere oberste Priorität ist die Sicherheit der Schauburg-Gäste und -Mitarbeiter, und mit den aktuell herrschenden vernünftigen Einschränkungen wegen COVID 19 im Hinterkopf wird es nicht das Festival sein, das wir veranstalten möchten. Es wird den Gästen und uns keinen Spaß machen. In diesem Sinne haben wir beschlossen, das 16. Festival, das für Oktober 2020 geplant war, abzusagen. Wir planen, im Herbst 2021 mit dem 16. Todd-AO-Festival dann wieder dabei zu sein. Working from home, more frequent hand washing, distance rules, restrictions in public events and gatherings etc., are just some of the new ways of life. Some cinemas have re-opened with new regulations; limited capacity, restricted seating, and many other things to keep audiences safe. The Schauburg has also reopened, but with limited capacity and open just 4 days of the week. Maximum capacity is between 10 and 75 people at the time depending on the size of the cinema, to make enough space between guests. The Todd-AO Festival, which has taken place at the Schauburg in the fall every year since 2005, is not only about showing 70mm films. An essential part of the weekend are the social aspects and the exchange of ideas between festival guests. The Friday night "Hoepfner and Friends", breakfast buffets in the morning, tea and coffee in the afternoon, and the evening meal outside in the Schauburg Biergarten are all essential Todd-AO Festival activities to which we have all become accustomed and appreciate. We feel that losing the breakfast buffets, the Biergarten and space for social interaction, film talks and discussions, it will not be the Todd-AO Festival at the Schauburg which we have come to enjoy. Our first priority is the safety of the Schauburg guests and staff, and with the current reasonable COVID 19 limitations in mind, it would not be the festival we would like to host. It will not be fun for the guests or for us, and we certainly do not wish to create a Corona hot spot at the Schauburg! With that in mind with great sadness, we have decided that we must cancel the 16th festival, which was planned for October 2020. We plan to be back in the fall of 2021 with the 16th Todd-AO festival.
