DeLuxe cinema in Berlin (Germany) Astor Film Lounge, will show a series of 70mm film classics under the title "Film Classics at the Astor Film Lounge". Program starts 10.10.2010 with the 50th anniversary of the Technirama film "Spartacus".

Ever second Sunday each month, from October 2010 until March 2011, Astor Film Lounge - in cooperation with the Cinema Museum Berlin eV - will show a matinee movie in the grand classic 70mm format.

Special Engagement: 50th Anniversary of the World Premiere
10.10.2010 at 10.30 clock the special screening of the restored English 70mm version with Dolby 6-channel magnetic sound as the opening film of the Matinee series.

"LAWRENCE OF ARABIA" (1962)
14.11.2010 at 10:00 restored English 70mm version with Dolby 6-channel magnetic sound.

"LORD JIM" (GB 1963)
12.12.2010 at 11.00 clock a German Vintage Print - also in the original format 70mm with 6-channel magnetic sound

"WEST SIDE STORY" (USA, 1961)
09.01.2011, at 11:00 English vintage 1992 70mm original version - in great colors and outstanding sharpness

"GOYA" (GDR / USSR 1971)
06.02.2011 at 11.00 clock in the original German version in the original 70mm format with six-channel magnetic sound.

"Raintree County"
13.03.2011 in 35mm Technicolor, German version

"ANNA KARENINA" (USSR, 1967)
10.04.2011 at 11:00 rarely seen 70mm, which will conclude the series in an excellent preserved 70mm print with 6-channel magnetic sound.

„Film Classics“ – episches Kino im 70mm-Format
Sonntags-Matinee-Reihe von KINOMUSEUM BERLIN E.V. und ASTOR FILMLOUNGE


In regelmässigen Matinee-Veranstaltungen von Oktober 2010 bis April 2011 möchten wir das klassische Roadshow-Kino wieder beleben. Die großformatigen Klassiker der Fünfziger und Sechziger Jahre kennen viele nur vom TV- und Video-Markt, aber erst im Kino können diese Filme auf der breiteren Bildwand und mit opulentem Raumklang ihre unvergleichliche Wirkung entfalten. Für diese Rezeption waren die Filme ursprünglich gedacht, und viele sagen, dass sie auch nur so richtig erfahrbar sind.

Werden Breitwandfilme wie eine „Filmoper“ zelebriert, fesseln selbst überlange Monumentalsujets. Für Traditionskinos, die noch mit entsprechender Vorführapparatur ausgerüstet sind, bietet sich die Möglichkeit, eine Brücke zur Vergangenheit zu schlagen. Somit können wir mit der Astor Film Lounge bei entsprechender Präsentation mit Rahmenprogramm Kino wieder als gesellschaftliches Ereignis zelebrieren.
