I recently found some old photos I had taken from the projection booth of a
theatre I was managing in 1978. We had a special engagement of "Close
Encounters Of The Third Kind" in 70MM.

I am attaching five pictures [3 used here, ed] for you. I hope you will find them interesting.
You may publish them on the website if you would like.
In 1983 the theatre was twinned by splitting the auditorium down the middle.
That gave the theatre a little boost in attendance but it closed four years
later. It is now a health club.

I was a projectionist and theatre manager from 1973 to 1998. During that
time, I worked as a projectionist at The Uptown Theatre in Washington, DC.
The Uptown was DCs "Cinerama Theatre".
I produced a short documentary about the Uptown a couple of years ago. I
shot footage of the theatre during a showing of "Quantum Of Solace".
I also used footage I had shot there during two of the premieres held there.
You can

Kindest Regards,
Bob Collins
