These pictures are of the Odeon Marble Arch in February 1978 when “Star
Wars” was presented in
D-150.
Also before the feature, a trailer was shown in 70mm of
“Close Encounters of the Third Kind”.
When this film was later shown, it was only on the standard 70mm screen, as
Steven Spielberg did not want it to be shown in D-150 so "Star Wars"
was the last D-150 presentation at this lovely cinema.

Of course a lot of people know the original screen was removed in 1989
for "Lawrence of Arabia"
and it was never the same again.
I also saw "Die Hard" and a 70mm format show in the mid 1980s and
also attended the last public screening as a single screen of
"ID4". I sure lots of people will have great
memories of this cinema.

I have also found these pics i took on December 26th 1977 on the London
opening of "Star Wars" taken of the Leicester Square Theatre and the
Dominion Tottenham Court Road.
i saw both these presentations and both had the 70mm trailer of "Close
Encounters" before the feature.
Also a Dolby CP100 had been installed in both cinemas.
