Student Cinema (WSC) is the film society of the University of Warwick
Students' Union. Showing 35-mm films since 1976, WSC screened its first
70-mm film, "Die Hard", in 1993. WSC continues to screen two 70-mm
films every year and is the only film society in the UK to have regular
70-mm screenings. Unlike most cinemas today, WSC operates a changeover
system at the majority of 35-mm and 70-mm film screenings. Reels of
approximately 20 minutes' duration are made up and projected individually
for the full cinema experience.
Films are selected to appeal to a student audience, with recently shown
70-mm titles including "The Hunt for Red October", "The Thing", "Aliens"
and "Vertigo".
The programme for winter 2013 features "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"
in 70-mm on 26th January.
