Not sure if you already have photos of this apartment building in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, but thought readers of the site might enjoy and get a smile out of them...

My friends and I rent a small storefront at Temple St & Belmont Ave in LA where we do our animation, and this apartment building is right down the street. I chuckle every time I pass it. I love how the sign has been repaired and the off-kilter nature of the whole thing.

What a majestic domicile... truly deserving such a grandiose namesake.

There are A LOT of these crappily-built apartment buildings from the late 50's-early 60's in Los Angeles. Many of them have exotic or grandiose names.

My best guess is that this was built sometime around the initial Cinerama craze, and maybe the owner wanted an exciting name and had the building handyman craft this lovely signage. That's completely speculation on my part. I will try to ask around and see if I can find anything out.
