For
many, many years, the English capital London has been the home of big
film premieres of new films. The royal family and film VIPs are often invited, as
well as people form the cultural life, friends and colleagues of the film
makers. Leicester Square and the
cinemas around it rolled out the red carpet
for their guests. Always a big event, and a chance to see your favourite
actors. No expenses spared. Many premiere were charity events too, where the
money from ticket sales went for a good cause somewhere.
in70mm.com reader Tony Quinn kindly sent a collection of tickets and
souvenir programs from these events.

Royal Premieres
Here Tony Quinn shares some of his memories from these events:
These are just the Royal premiere l
attended and which have been singed by the stars. These events were all
Royal Charity. Our family never advertised what we did and we always
remained anonymous about our donations.
At the events we did had live orchestras playing music from the film and
at the after film party and dinners. We did not allow the press in and
no one was looking for publicity as they do today.
Over the years l did meet many film stars from the Burtons to Laurence
Oliver and Noel Coward. Just to mention just a few who were charming.
You will notice the "Camelot" program this is from the Broadway show
where l meet Julie Andrews and Richard Burton. Back stage they both
kindly signed the program for me.
