The following is a reference / historical list of the 70mm roadshow engagements
of “Battle of the Bulge” held in North America. These presentations utilized
special rectified prints derived from Ultra Panavision photography and projected
onto large, deeply curved screens in Cinerama-branded cinemas. The audio was
six-track stereophonic. The seating was reserved at advanced prices and with an
average of ten scheduled screenings per week. The cinemas in which these special
presentations played also sold souvenir programs.
The premiere of “Battle of the Bulge” was held in Los Angeles on December 16th,
1965.
“Battle of the Bulge” was among ten confirmed first-run films released in 1965
with 70mm prints for selected engagements. The Sidney Harmon/United States
Pictures production was directed by Ken Annakin and starred Henry Fonda, Robert
Shaw and Robert Ryan.
