Dr. Richard Vetter

Born in San Diego, California, USA February 28, 1928. Educated Pepperdine College, B.A., 1950; U.C.L.A. Ph.D. 1959; United States Navy as aerial photographer; Assistant professor audio- visual communication at U.C.L.A. 1960-63. Inventor and co-developed the Dimension-150 widescreen process 1957 - 1963 and formed D-150, Inc. 1963. Member of SMPTE, AMPAS and ASC. He is currently director of research and development for United Artists Theatre Circuit and Todd-AO. He is living in Hollywood, USA.

By the mid 60's the production and exhibition hardware and software was an unprecedented success. Dick's patented technology was installed in over sixty D-150 systems in the U.S., Mexico, South America, Europe and the Far East. Dick Vetter holds over 40 patents of which many are associated with the technology of wide-screen motion picture exhibition as well as other patents that resulted in improvements for the science of the motion picture industry.

Carl W. Williams

 
Born in Decatur, Illinois, USA March 9, 1927. Educated Illinois State Normal University B.S. 1949. Co-developed the Dimension-150 widescreen process 1957 - 1963 and formed D-150, Inc. 1963. Member of SMPTE, AFI and AMPAS. He is currently president of Cinema Equipment Sales of California.

Although D-150 folded in 1970, Carl remained in the movie business working for companies supplying theater equipment. At one time, he even owned and had interest in movie theaters in California. In 1986, he founded Cinema Equipment Sales of California and within a decade, brought his daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Michael, into the company. His family business has provided sales and service, including architectural and technical consulting and planning to theaters worldwide. Carl was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences; and a prior member of the British Kinematograph, Sound and Television Society; The S.M.P.T.E. and the International Theatre Equipment Association.
