the image to see enlargementI have just read the article about Cinerama in Tel Aviv on the in70mm website which I found very interesting. I used to know one of the technical staff at Cinerama London in the early 1970s and he had been involved with the installation at Tel Aviv. the image to see enlargementOne is a view looking towards the screen frame and the other is looking towards the projection box. It was a difficult building to put cinema into as it was circular and if you look at the sides of the auditorium you will see what appears to be white garden fencing. I think this was used as side demarkation for the seating as anything beyond that line would not have been facing towards the screen. Also the suspended ceiling is somewhat strange, I don't know whether this zig-zag design was to alleviate echo from the stereo sound. | |
