 At
the end of an exceptionally hard year, the Cinerama and 70mm community as
well as all who love the Cinema and beyond; are mourning the passing of two
of the brightest stars who ever lit up the big screen. First Carrie Fisher
swiftly followed by her mother Debbie Reynolds. Carrie Fisher was the Star
of "Star Wars". In a
final and poignant appearance in "Star
Wars Rogue One", she
shone brightly, a 70mm superstar to the end.Debbie Reynolds was, without question, Hollywood Royalty. A cherished memory for this writer was meeting her and joining in with her in singing A Home in the Meadow from "How the West Was Won". For many, "How the West Was Won" was the greatest Cinerama Film and Western movie of them all. Debbie Reynolds, in large measure made it so. The boundless hope, courage and optimism she represented in the face of trial and adversity throughout the great Western Cinerama Adventure will remain in the hearts and memories of all who witnessed those great qualities on the giant curved screen. |
