Allain Delon plays the all-dominant protagonist in this film, which is a film adaptation of Alexander Duma's famous novel: The Black Tulip.
The main role is actually a double role, as he plays both Julien and his brother Guillaume, who look alike but are as different as night and day.
The action takes place in 1789, the year of the French Revolution, and the two brothers exploit the turbulent times in their own ways. Both pretend to fight for the cause of the people, but while Julien is seriously prepared to risk his life for the freedom of the people, Guillaume commits his brazen robberies solely to gain wealth for himself.
Beautiful women flock to both brothers, who are constantly mistaken even by their chosen ones. The dashing young girl Caroline, who is not afraid to grab a sword when the going gets tough, is played by Virni Lisi, while Dawn Addams is the elegant Marquise de Vigogne. Akim Tamiroff plays the hated ruler of the region and Francis Blanche is Caroline's father, one of the most ardent of the revolutionaries.
The Black Musketeer's Revenge, filmed in Spain, was directed by Christian Jacque, who also wrote the screenplay in collaboration with Henri Jeanson and Paul Andreota.

DEN SORTE MUSKETERS HÆVN "THE BLACK TULIP"
FARVEFILM/CINEMASCOPE CENSUR: GRØN LÆNGDE: 3040 m INSTRUKTION: CHRISTIAN JAGUES
DEN SORTE MUSKETERS HÆVN
ALAIN DELON i sit livs største rolle
