“Fort Saganne” was among seventeen confirmed first-run films released in
1984 with 70mm prints for selected engagements. The film was directed by
Alain Corneau (“La Choix des armes” aka “Choice of Arms”), starring Gérard
Depardieu, Philipe Noiret, Catherine Deneuve and Sophie Marceau, opened
December 14th. (The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May ’84
and screened August 26th at the Imperial during the Montreal Film Festival.)
The 70mm prints of “Fort Saganne” featured French-language Six-Track Dolby
Stereo (“A” encoded Baby Boom format) and full-frame imagery blown up from
anamorphic 35mm.
The duration of the engagements (measured in weeks) is included in
