| Compiled by: Michael Coate | Date: 09.06.2017 | The following is a reference / historical listing of the 70-millimeter presentations of “The Bear” in North America. The film’s 70mm prints consisted of full-frame imagery blown up from anamorphic 35mm photography. The audio was Six-Track Dolby Stereo (“A” encoded “baby boom” format).
“The Bear” (also known as “L’Ours”) was among eighteen first-run films released in 1989 with 70mm prints for selected engagements. The Price Entertainment presentation, Renn production and TriStar release — directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud and starring Jack Wallace, Tcheky Karyo and Andre Lacombe — opened October 25th in the United States and the 27th in Canada.
