The following is a reference / historical
listing of the North American 70-millimeter presentations of “Rebel Moon”
(aka “Rebel Moon: Part One—A Child of Fire”).
The Netflix release — directed by Zack Snyder (“300,” “Batman v Superman:
Dawn of Justice”) — opened December 15th, 2023 for a one-week theatrical run
preceding a Netflix streaming release.
The 70mm prints of “Rebel Moon” feature Datasat audio and letterboxed
imagery projected in Ultra Panavsion 70 format (i.e. 1.25x anamorphic
un-squeeze). The original photography was digital and the 70mm prints were
derived from a film-out of a Digital Intermediate.

Trivia
|
|
• It was anamorphic and used UP lenses (rented
from BL&S) however they did not quite fill the entire frame making it look
letterboxed and pillarboxed.
• "Rebel Moon" died at the boxoffice, in spite of 70mm and
Ultra Panavision 70. It will be one of the rarest 70mm prints, for sure.
